Library and departmental collections
of bound books and periodicals play a central role in higher education.
Ideas and valuable information are stored on their pages. But
the covers on books weaken through use and the individual issues
or pages of periodicals need to be retained in a usable format.
It is the mission of the University Bindery to keep these materials
in good repair and readily available for use by students, faculty,
and staff.
The University Bindery processes 50,000 to 60,000
individual items on an annual basis. The Bindery is a high-quality,
certified institutional library binder and adheres to the Library
Binding Institute’s standard for library binding. These
exacting standards mean materials bound at the Bindery will look
nice, function properly, and will withstand heavy use.
